Interim ordinary dividend No. 137                                               
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 29 July 2002 the directors of AECI Limited       
declared an interim dividend of 40 cents per share, in respect of the financial 
year ending 31 December 2002, payable on Monday, 23 September 2002 to ordinary  
shareholders recorded in the books of the Company at the close of business on   
Friday, 20 September 2002.                                                      
The last day to trade cum dividend will be Friday, 13 September 2002 and shares 
will commence trading ex dividend as from Monday, 16 September 2002.            
Any change of address or dividend instruction must be received before Friday, 13
September 2002.                                                                 
Share certificates may not be dematerialised or rematerialised from Monday, 16  
September 2002 to Friday, 20 September 2002, both days inclusive.               
This announcement will be mailed to all registered shareholders on or about 31  
July 2002.
