Gender equality gathers momentum at Trans Hex

Trans Hex Group, the only diamond miner listed on the Johannesburg

Securities Exchange JSE, has appointed its first woman director.

Group finance manager, Magda Loubser, has been promoted to financial
director with immediate effect.

"Magda has been with Trans Hex for 14 years and has proven herself as one of
the most competent financial people in the mining business," said chairman
Bernard van Rooyen.  "Her appointment to the Board recognises the constant
progression of her career through the Company, adds value to the directorate
and is just reward for her loyalty and outstanding ability."

Loubser studied at the University of Stellenbosch and completed her articles
at one of the country's leading accounting firms.  Her academic

qualifications have been supplemented by on-the-job experience in, what is
arguably, one of the most challenging corporate environments.

Trans Hex explores for, mines and markets diamonds from operations within
South Africa and beyond its borders.  The accounting and financial

implications of dealing in this specialised and geographically diverse
market are immense and Loubser has performed those tasks with distinction.
Trans Hex has spearheaded a number of initiatives to break down so-called
gender-barriers within mining.  One of the most significant being the
opening of all operator positions to women, which includes driving the huge
earthmoving trucks that carry in excess of 90 tonnes of mine material.
"Trans Hex management has proven that gender is not a limiting factor for
advancement within the Company.  From operator to director level, we're
breaking down the stereotypes," concludes van Rooyen.
