The resignation of managing director: operations Peter Danchin was announced at Trans Hex's 21st annual general meeting on Friday 17th August.
Chairman Bernard van Rooyen said: "Peter has been unstinting in his eleven- year commitment. For the past 17 months he has effectively lead the Company through some of its most important acquisitions and operational
developments: the mergers with Gem Diamonds and Benguela Concessions, the commissioning of the new Baken Central Plant and the revitalisation of the marine division are examples."
"The entire Board joins me in thanking him for his contribution and loyalty and we wish him well for the future," added van Rooyen.
Recently appointed Calvyn Gardner will assume the position of chief
executive officer on 1 September, a vacancy created by the resignation of Niel Hoogenhout in March 2000.
Trans Hex is the only diamond mining company listed on the JSE Securities Exchange with operations on land and off the South African and Namibian West Coast. The Company has developed a global reputation for producing some of the world's most sought after diamonds. Ends.
