Notice to Preference Shareholders: Dividend No. 126

Notice is hereby given that on 26 February 2001 the Directors of AECI Limited
declared a dividend at the rate of 5.5 per cent per annum for the six months
ending 15 June 2001 payable on that date to holders of preference shares
registered in the books of the Company at the close of business on 4 May 2001.
The dividend is declared in United Kingdom currency and cheques in payment will
be posted from the office of the transfer secretaries in South Africa and the
United Kingdom on 12 June 2001.

Dividends payable from Johannesburg will be paid in South African currency at
the rate of exchange ruling on 7 May 2001.

Dividends payable from the United Kingdom office will be subject to such tax
deductions as are prescribed by United Kingdom legislation unless a certificate
exempting the shareholder concerned from such tax deduction is received before
the closing of the registers.

Any change of address or dividend instruction must be received before the
closing of the registers.

The transfer books and registers of members in Johannesburg and the United
Kingdom will be closed from 5 May 2001 to 18 May 2001 both days inclusive.
