The Board of Liberty International PLC ("Liberty International") notes today`s  
press comment in relation to a potential separation of Liberty International    
into two separate businesses, a shopping centre focused business and a London   
focused business.                                                               
The Board confirms that it is actively considering a reorganisation of the group
by way of a demerger of a London focused entity from its shopping centre        
business, Capital Shopping Centres.                                             
Such a transaction requires a number of third party approvals which have been   
requested and some of which are currently outstanding. The Board will only be in
a position to decide whether to proceed or not once it has progressed these     
matters further.                                                                
Liberty International will make further announcements as appropriate.
