CHANGE TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS – APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Noteholders are referred to the announcement released on SENS on 1 July 2022 regarding the
expiration of the employment contract of the Chief Executive Officer of KOBWA (“CEO”), Mr Collin
Xolani Zwane, and the appointment of Ms Mangcamane Maseko as acting CEO until such time that the
appointment of the new CEO is concluded.
Noteholders are hereby advised, in compliance with paragraph 6.39 of the Debt Listings Requirements
of the JSE Limited, that Mr Trevor Mduduzi Shongwe has been appointed as the new CEO and
executive director of KOBWA with effect from 1 October 2022, replacing Ms Maseko whose acting
tenure has been terminated.
Mr Shongwe is an experienced and knowledgeable water management specialist and a seasoned
executive with over 23 years of working experience. He has extensive leadership and executive
experience, having held senior positions in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy in the
Kingdom of Eswatini over many years.
Mr Shongwe has substantial exposure to transboundary water management, public administration and
governance, as exemplified by his recorded execution of high-level assignments in the Ministry of
Natural Resources and Energy, including the Department of Water Affairs, KOBWA and recently the
Incomati and Maputo Watercourse Commission, where he was the Interim Executive Secretary.
In addition to his executive leadership experience, Mr Shongwe has distinguished himself as an expert
in board governance, having served as a member of various governing boards and board committees at
both national and regional levels.
The Board, together with the Joint Water Commission, welcomes Mr Shongwe and looks forward to him
driving KOBWA’s strategic objectives, and ultimately transforming the transboundary water sector for
the benefit of all its stakeholders.
