Index Harmonisation Update – Informative Notice
05 December 2022
In September 2022, a market consultation was published to solicit feedback on the FTSE/JSE index
harmonisation proposal detailed therein.
The consultation closed on 31 October 2022; FTSE Russell and the JSE would like to thank respondents for
submitting their valuable and constructive feedback, which is still being considered.
This notice confirms that the indicative timelines and proposals provided in the consultation document,
including the potential alignment of the All Share and SWIX weightings, are under review. As such, the
weighting alignment, proposed for June 2023, will not go ahead on this date.
FTSE/JSE will provide further information relating to the index harmonisation project and the outcome of
the consultation in March 2023.
Index users are reminded that all methodology updates are subject to review and approval by the FTSE
Russell Index Governance Board and will be considered in line with FTSE Russell’s Policy for Benchmark
