NOTICE TO THE NOTEHOLDERS DATED 31 AUGUST 2020

CREDIT EVENT NOTICE AND NOTICE OF PUBLICLY AVAILABLE INFORMATION

                 Issue of ZAR 40 000 000 Credit Linked Notes due on 10/01/2021
              Under the Debt Instruments Issuance Programme (“the Programme”)
         Unconditionally and irrevocably guaranteed by Société Générale (“the Guarantor”)

Notification of Credit Event

Capitalised terms used and not otherwise defined in this announcement have the meaning given to
them in the Applicable Final Terms as read with the Programme.

Notice is hereby given to all holders (the “Noteholders”) of the notes issued on 25 January 2016 under
the JSE Code SGI004 (“the Notes”) in terms of SG Issuer’s Programme dated 28 October 2014 that a
Bankruptcy Credit Event occurred with respect to the Reference Entity “Matalan Finance Plc” on 29
July 2020, as a result of the Reference Entity filing for recognition of the Scheme of Arrangement
referred to below (the “Scheme”) and certain interim relief under Chapter 15 of the US Bankruptcy
Code. The Scheme involved the sanctioning by the court of amendments to the terms of the Reference
Entity’s 9½% Second Lien Secured Notes due 2024. The related Sanction Order was filed at
Companies House and the Scheme became effective on 28 July 2020.

The Credit Event Determination Date in respect of this Credit Event is 30 July 2020.

This notice also constitutes the Notice of Publicly Available Information with respect to this Credit Event.
