Leadership positions within Umgeni Water

The Board of Umgeni Water confirms the appointment of Thamsanqa Basil Hlongwa as
Chief Executive Officer of Umgeni Water, having been acting CEO since August 2017. It
is expected that Mr Hlongwa will assume his responsibilities as the CEO of Umgeni Water
with effect from 1 July 2018. In accordance with section 36 of the Water Services Act,
108 of 1998, this appointment requires and still awaits the determination of the CEO’s
salary by the Minister of Water and Sanitation.

The Minister is applying his mind on the Board appointment and will communicate his
decision once all processes are concluded.
