FTSE and the JSE announce the following addition to the FTSE/JSE Africa Index Series
Ground Rules Appendices:
New Appendix
15. Appendix G - FTSE/JSE Net of Tax Indices
15.1 List of FTSE/JSE Net of Tax Indices
In addition to the FTSE/JSE Africa Total Return Indices which are calculated gross
(declared), the following equivalent Net Total Return Indices will also be calculated:

In calculating Net Total Return Indices, withholding tax is deducted from the declared
dividend with the resulting net dividend used in the XD adjustment.
Formula for determining net dividends:
((GLR-STC_CR)-((WT%-FT%+SARR%)/100))+STC_CR
Where:
GLR = Gross Local Rate
STC_CR = Secondary Tax on Companies Credit Rate
WT = Withholding Tax
FT = Foreign Tax
SARR = South African Residents Reclaim
Please note: The resulting net dividend amounts used in the calculation of the above
indices are published within the daily JSE CA Schedule.
