CHANGES TO BOARD COMMITTEE

In accordance with paragraph 3.59(c) of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, the board
of directors of the Company (“the Board”) wishes to advise shareholders of the following
changes to the social and ethics board committee (“SEC”) with immediate effect:

Dr. RL Phillips, has been appointed as the chairperson of the SEC, replacing Mr N Kjellström-
Matseke. Mr Kjellström-Matseke will remain a member of the SEC.

The current membership of the SEC is as follows:

Dr RL Phillips (chairperson)
Mr BL Goldberg
Mr QM Rossi
Mr N Kjellström-Matseke

The Board of Spear thanks Mr Kjellström-Matseke for his stewardship of the SEC during his
tenure as chair.
