Standard and Poor’s downgrades Anglo American SA Finance Ltd’s
R20bn Domestic Medium Term Note (‘DMTN’) Programme’s national
scale rating to zaAA


In accordance with paragraph 4.26 of the JSE Debt Listings
Requirements, noteholders are advised that Standard and Poor’s
has downgraded the senior unsecured rating (‘NSR’) of notes
issued by Anglo American SA Finance Limited (‘AASAF’) under its
R20bn DMTN Programme to zaAA from zaAA+.     Standard and Poor’s
has affirmed the Programme’s short-term NSR at zaA-1. AASAF is a
subsidiary of Anglo American plc (BBB-, stable outlook).
