APPOINTMENT OF ADDITIONAL DIRECTORS ON THE SIBANYE GOLD BOARD

Westonaria, 2 October 2013:    In terms of Section 3.59 of the
Listings Requirements of JSE Limited (“JSE”),the Board is pleased
to announce the appointment of Mr Chris Chadwick and Mr Robert
Chan as non-Executive Directors and Dr Zola Skweyiya as an
independent non-Executive Director to the Sibanye Gold Board
(“Board”). The appointment of Mr Chadwick and Mr Chan is pursuant
to a written agreement for the proposed acquisition of the Gold
One International Limited’s (“Gold One”) West Rand Operations
(“Cooke Operations”) by the Company (the “Proposed Transaction”).
The appointment is subject to the Sibanye Gold shareholders
approving the allotment and issue to Gold One of such number of
Sibanye Gold shares (“shares”) as represents 17% of the Company’s
issued share capital, on a fully diluted basis, as payment for
the Cooke Operations. Mr Chadwick and Mr Chan will serve on the
Board with effect from the date of fulfilment of the conditions
precedent to the Proposed Transaction. Mr Skweyiya’s appointment
is with effect from 1 October 2013.

Chris (45) is a Chartered Accountant who passed the South African
Chartered Accountant Board exam in 1991, the same year he
completed his articles at Deloitte Touché Tohmatsu Limited. His
early career was spent with Comair Limited, the largest privately
owned airline in South Africa, which he assisted in growing
tenfold over a period of four years. After financial executive
roles in the advertising, fast-moving consumer goods and services
industries, Chris moved into the Information Technology industry
in financial and strategic director roles for five years. A
further four years was spent at an investment holding group where
Chris was involved with corporate development and finance across
many different sectors. Chris joined Gold One (previously Aflease
Gold) in July 2008 as a board director and is the Chief Financial
Officer and Acting CEO of Gold One. Chris was directly involved
with the creation of Gold One through the reverse take-over of
Australian-listed BMA Gold.

Robert (66) is an experienced banker with over 39 years’
experience in both commercial and investment banking, having
worked in London, Malaysia and Singapore. He retired from the
United Overseas Bank Limited on 31 December 2011 after 35 years
of service, 25 years of which as the Chief Executive Officer,

United Overseas Bank, Hong Kong. Robert has served as an
independent, non-executive director of Noble Group Limited since
1996. He is an independent, non-executive director of Hutchison
Port Holdings Trustees Pte. Ltd., the Trustee-Manager of
Hutchison Port Holdings Trust, a business trust listed in
Singapore, as well as Quam Limited, which is listed in Hong Kong.
He is currently non-executive Chairman of The Hour Glass (HK)
Limited and an independent, non-executive director of Gold One.
Robert holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) honours degree and
a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is also a Fellow
of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.

Zola (71) was Minister of Public Service and Administration from
1994 to 1999 and Minister of Social Development from 1999 to
2008. He was the founding member that set up the Centre for
Development Studies at the University of the Western Cape. Zola
also served on the board of trustees of the National Commission
for the Rights of Children. He was previously the Chairman of the
United Nations Commission for Social Development and the African
National Congress Constitution Committee. In August 2013, he
returned to South Africa after serving as the South African High
Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Zola holds an LLD Degree from
the University of Liepzig in Germany.

The Board welcomes Messrs Chadwick, Chan and Skweyiya to Sibanye
Gold. The wealth of experience and broad range of knowledge that
the new board members bring across various disciplines, will
balance and enhance the capacity that the Sibanye Board already
has. The Board looks forward to their no-doubt considerable
contribution to the on-going development of Sibanye Gold.
