DECLARED DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT ON ANGLO AMERICAN PLC HOT ENHANCED DIVIDEND
SECURITIES – (“AGLIHL”)


With reference to the dividend announcement, the Directors of Anglo American plc have recommended that,
subject to approval by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting to be held at 2.30 pm on Thursday 24 April
2014, a dividend of R5.8696440 per ordinary share be payable on Tuesday, 29 April 2014 to ordinary
shareholders, recorded in the books of the company at the close of business on Thursday, 20 March 2014.

In terms of the new Dividend Tax effective 1 April 2012, the following additional information is disclosed:

1)   local dividend tax rate is 15%;and
2)   no STC credits available; and
3)   net local dividend amount is R4.9891974 per share for shareholders liable to pay the new Dividends Tax; and
     R5.8696440 per share for shareholders exempt from paying the new Dividends Tax; and
4)   the issued share capital of Anglo American Plc is 1,394,171,599 ordinary shares; and
5)   Investec Bank Limited Income Tax Number: 9675/053/71/5, and
6)   Anglo South Africa Capital (Pty) Limited Tax Registration Number: 9273/364/84/5. Anglo South Africa Capital
     (Pty) Limited will distribute the dividend in South Africa.


Accordingly, the holders of AGLIHL will receive an Anglo American plc dividend amount on Tuesday, 29 April 2014
in terms of the Cession clause incorporated in the Supplement between the holders and Investec Bank Limited.
The last day to trade (“cum” the dividend) in order to participate in the dividend is Thursday, 13 March 2014.

AGLIHL Hot Enhanced Dividend Securities will commence trading “ex” the dividend from the commencement of
business on Friday, 14 March 2014, and the record date will be Thursday, 20 March 2014.
