RESIGNATION OF MS GUGU MSIBI FROM THE SIMMERS INTERIM BOARD OF DIRECTORS        
In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of JSE Limited   
shareholders are advised that the chairman of the Simmers interim board of      
directors has received and accepted the resignation of Ms Gugu Msibi with       
immediate effect.                                                               
Ms Msibi, a current director of Ernst & Young, has today, 18 December 2009,     
informed the chairman of Simmers that Ernst & Young audits companies in the     
Vulisango Holdings (Pty) Limited ("Vulisango") group. Vulisango holds 22 per    
cent of the issued shares in Simmers through its subsidiary Xelexwa Investment  
Holdings (Pty) Limited. Ms Msibi is therefore precluded from fulfilling her role
as an independent non-executive director on the Simmers interim board due to    
Ernst & Young`s internal policies to maintain strict audit independence and it  
is with regret that she tenders her resignation.
