POY - Poynting - Trading Update POYNTING HOLDINGS LIMITED (Formerly Poynting Innovations (Proprietary) Limited) Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa (Registration number 1997/011142/06) Share code: POY ISIN: ZAE000121299 ("Poynting" or "the company") TRADING UPDATE In terms of the Listings Requirements of JSE Limited, companies are required to publish a trading statement as soon as they become reasonably certain that the financial results for the period to be reported on will differ by more than 20% from that of the previous corresponding period. Accordingly, a review of the financial results for the six months ended 31 December 2008 by management has indicated that Poynting will report a loss per share and a headline loss per share of between 0.9 and 1.1 cents. The main reason for the decrease in earnings is that the company has not achieved its anticipated sales targets. Export sales have been impacted by the global crisis and local corporate sales are down largely due to new developments in the telecoms field which are causing "technological uncertainty" and as a result are delaying orders by various large customers. The financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or reported on by Poynting`s auditors. Poynting`s interim financial results are expected to be released on SENS on or about 31 March 2009.
