CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The boards of directors of Liberty Holdings Limited and Liberty Group Limited (collectively “Liberty”)
are pleased to announce the appointment of Yuresh Maharaj as chief executive officer (effective 10
March 2022) to succeed David Munro. Yuresh previously held the position of financial director. David
has been appointed to an executive position at Standard Bank Group (SBG) to oversee the integration
of Liberty into SBG. David will remain on the Liberty boards as a non-executive director. An
appointment will be made in due course for the position of chief financial officer.
Post the delisting from the JSE of Liberty Holdings Limited on 1 March 2022, the chairman, Jacko
Maree, has resigned from the boards of Liberty. Yunus Suleman, the current lead independent
director, has taken over as chairman of Liberty.
Notwithstanding the delisting of Liberty Holdings Limited, there remains a need for a majority of
independent directors on the boards. The opportunity has, however, been taken to reduce the
number of non-executive directors, and therefore the following directors have also resigned from the
boards of Liberty:
Jim Sutcliffe
Sim Tshabalala
Thembisa Skweyiya
Laura Hartnady
Prins Mhlanga
The boards wish to thank all the outgoing directors for their significant contribution to the
organisation over their years of service.
Due to the resignations, there will be changes to the composition of the committees. A SENS
announcement to this effect will be released in due course.
