DELAY IN AVAILABILITY OF UMGENI WATER’S ANNUAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30
JUNE 2021

Umgeni Water hereby notifies debt investors that the finalisation of its audited annual financial statements
for the year ended 30 June 2021 (“AFS”), which were due for release today, has been delayed due to a
delay in the audit by the Auditor General of South Africa (“AGSA”), being the external auditors of Umgeni
Water, as a result of:

• the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the looting in the country last year which has adversely
affected the progress of the audit and finalisation of the AFS; and
• an increase in the risk assessment resulting in additional testing to be performed.

Umgeni Water anticipates that its AFS will be tabled in parliament during February 2022, and it is
anticipated that the AFS will be released by 28 February 2022.

Debt investors are further advised that the JSE has granted an extension to Umgeni Water until 28 February
2022 to submit and publicly release its AFS, including the report by the AGSA.

A further announcement will be released in due course regarding the availability of Umgeni Water’s AFS.
