BARCLAYS AFRICA GROUP CHAIRMAN APPOINTED TO BARCLAYS PLC BOARD
AND APPOINTMENT OF LEAD INDEPENDENT DIRECTOR

Shareholders are informed that the Barclays Africa Group Chairman, Wendy Lucas-Bull, has
been appointed as a Non-executive Director of Barclays PLC and Barclays Bank PLC, with
effect from 19 September 2013.

Trevor Munday has been appointed Lead Independent Director on the Board of Barclays
Africa Group (the Board), effective from 19 September 2013. Trevor was appointed to the
Board as an Independent Non-executive Director in 2007, and is currently chairman of the
Group Risk and Capital Management Committee and the Concentration Risk Committee,
and is a member of the Group Audit and Compliance Committee, Group Remuneration and
Human Resources Committee and the Board Finance Committee. He currently also chairs
the board of Reunert Limited, is the Lead Independent Director of Life Healthcare Group
Holdings Limited and a board member of Illovo Sugar Limited.
