Appointment of director                                                         
In compliance with the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, AFGRI announces the   
appointment of Linda de Beer as an independent non-executive director of AFGRI  
with effect from 19 May 2010.                                                   
Linda is a qualified CA (SA) and has her masters degree in tax.  She has        
subsequently been a lecturer and professor in accounting and tax, a Senior      
Executive: Standards at SAICA and Financial Director of a private investment    
company.                                                                        
Linda is an independent financial reporting and corporate governance specialist 
currently involved in directorship development and training programmes for the  
Institute of Directors of Southern Africa, the chairman elect of the            
Consultative Advisory Group of the International Auditing and Assurance         
Standards Board (a standard setter within the International Federation of       
Accountants), a member of the King Committee on Corporate Governance in South   
Africa, the Issuer Services Advisory Committee of the JSE Ltd, and the Committee
for Auditing Standards of the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors in South
Africa.                                                                         
The Board believes that Linda will bring valuable experience to the board and   
congratulates her on her appointment.
