ARH - ARB Holdings Limited - Trading Statement For The Six Months Ended 31 December 2009 ARB HOLDINGS LIMITED (Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa) (Registration Number 1986/002975/06) Share Code: ARH ISIN: ZAE000109435 ("the company") TRADING STATEMENT FOR THE SIX MONTHS ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2009 In accordance with paragraph 3.4(b) of the JSE Listings Requirements, shareholders are advised that the company`s interim earnings per share and headline earnings per share for the six months ended 31 December 2009 are expected to be between 15% and 25% lower than for the six months ended 31 December 2008. The decrease is primarily due to the following: - The high base effect of the first quarter of the previous financial year (i.e. July to September 2008) during which period trading conditions were very favourable and had not yet been affected by the severe economic downturn which only occurred thereafter; and - Lower selling prices during the current period, when compared to the same period in the prior year, most notably in copper related products such as power cables, which impacted the company`s trading margins. To this end, the average daily spot copper price in Rands for the first quarter of the current financial year was 24% lower than for the first quarter of the previous financial year. The financial information on which this trading statement has been based has not been reviewed by or reported on by the company`s auditors. The company expects to release its interim results for the six months ended 31 December 2009 on or around 09 February 2010.
