ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI NATIONAL SCALE RATING RAISED BY STANDARD & POOR’S
RATING AGENCY (“S&P”)

AngloGold Ashanti would like to notify bondholders that following
Standard & Poor’s revision of its national scale criteria and
mapping guidelines. AngloGold Ashanti’s national Scale rating has
been raised from zaA-/--/zaA-2 to zaA/--/zaA-2.
