VOLUNTARY ANNOUNCEMENT:
PROTECH KHUTHELE AWARDED A FURTHER R255 MILLION WORTH OF CONTRACTS
Shareholders are advised that Protech Khuthele has successfully secured three separate contracts
amounting to a total of R255 million, to further bolster the current order book. These are:
1. Alice Lane Bulk Earthworks and Lateral Support in Sandton. The scope of work includes
110,000m³ of basement excavation and lateral support, of which more than 85% is hard rock.
Work on the project will commence in January 2014 and is scheduled for completion in
October 2014;
2. Rail Bulk Earthworks contract in Limpopo Province. Work includes a 45km earthworks
formation for the construction of a railway line together with various drainage and bridge
structures. Preparation work has begun, and work is expected to be completed within 16
months; and
3. Bulk Earthworks contract in Pomona, East Rand. The project comprises construction of bulk
earthworks terraces and platforms for a new warehouse facility, together with the removal of
unsuitable soils and the replacement thereof. Construction has already commenced and is
due for completion in March 2014.
Antony Page, Protech CEO, commented: “Despite a persistently tough operating environment in 2013,
Protech has added these contracts to the order book, reflecting the Group’s long-term strategy of
geographical and product diversification. We are encouraged by the recent growth of the order book and
remain cautiously optimistic about the year ahead.”
