CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF MMI
MMI wishes to advise its shareholders of Mr Blignault Gouws’ retirement
as a non-executive director from the Board of MMI Holdings (the “Board”)
with effect from 27 November 2013. Mr Gouws joined Momentum Life in 1983
as general manager and was appointed managing director in 1985. In May
1988 he became the managing director of Lifegro and the executive deputy
chairman of Momentum Life following the take-over of Lifegro in
November 1988. Mr Gouws was instrumental and contributed immensely to the
success of Momentum (now part of MMI) over the past 30 years. Mr Gouws
will continue to serve as a member on the MMI Actuarial Committee and MMI
Fair Practices Committee. The Board expresses its sincere appreciation to
Mr Gouws for his invaluable contribution to MMI over the years.
The Board is also pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Louis von
Zeuner, as a non-executive director of MMI, with effect from 1 January
2014. Mr von Zeuner completed 32 years service at ABSA and served as
Deputy Group Chief Executive from 2009 until 31 December 2012. He has
extensive business experience, including experience in audit, risk and
capital matters, particularly in the financial sector. He currently
serves on the Boards of Telkom, Edcon, Eqstra, Afgri, Cricket South
Africa and Afrikaanse Handelsinstituut. The Board welcomes Mr von Zeuner.
Shareholders are further advised that Ms Mary Vilakazi did not stand for
re-election as a Board member at the MMI Annual General Meeting held on
27 November 2013. Ms Vilakazi will assume a new role as CEO MMI Balance
Sheet Management (BSM) from 1 May 2014. The current CEO of MMI BSM, Mr
Nigel Dunkley, will be transferred to the MMI office in London from May
2014.
