APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR                                                         
In compliance with paragraph 3.59(a) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE    
Limited, notice is hereby given of the following appointment to the board of    
directors of Illovo:                                                            
Ms Imogen Nonhlanhla Mkhize has been appointed as a non-executive, independent  
director, with effect from 1 November 2005.                                     
Ms Mkhize has extensive leadership and management experience in both the        
corporate and non-profit sectors, and holds a BSc Information Systems (Rhodes)  
and an MBA (Harvard).  In July 2003, she was appointed the CEO of the 18th World
Petroleum Congress, an international oil and gas event hosted by South Africa in
September 2005.  Previously, she was the executive chair of the Zitek Group, a  
strategy and management consultancy she founded in 2000, and prior to that,     
managing director of Lucent Technologies (South Africa). Ms Mkhize has also     
worked for Anglo American, Andersen Consulting, the Association of Black        
Accountants of Southern Africa (ABASA) and Nedcor. In 2001, the World Economic  
Forum recognised her as a Global Leader for Tomorrow.                           
Ms Mkhize is a director of the listed companies, Sasol Limited, Murray & Roberts
Holdings Limited and Datacentrix Holdings Limited. She also serves as a member  
of the Board of the CSIR, the Financial Markets Advisory Board, the Rhodes      
University Board of Governors and the Rhodes Investec Business School Advisory  
Board.
