TRADING STATEMENT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2016
Shareholders are advised that Exxaro and its directors have reasonable certainty relating to the expected
financial results of Exxaro for the year ended 31 December 2016.
Attributable earnings for the year ended 31 December 2016 are expected to be between R5 169 million and
R6 078 million. This is mainly due to higher net operating profit contribution from the coal business as well
as higher equity-accounted income from investments coupled with the non-recurring impairment loss
recorded in respect of the goodwill which arose on the acquisition of Exxaro Coal Central Proprietary
Limited (ECC) during 2015. Attributable earnings per share (AEPS) are therefore expected to be between
1 456 cents and 1 712 cents per share compared to the 83 cents per share attributable earnings reported
for the year ended 31 December 2015.
Headline earnings per share (HEPS) are expected to be between 1 173 cents per share and 1 365 cents
per share compared to 457 cents per share reported in 2015.
Shareholders are advised that Exxaro will release its reviewed financial results for the year ended 31
December 2016 on 9 March 2017.
