AngloGold Ashanti CEO resigns
The CEO of AngloGold Ashanti [ANG], Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan, has resigned to take up his new post of CEO of Vedanta Resources, an Indian mining company. He will stay on as CEO of AngloGold until the end of August.
Venkatakrishnan has been with the company for 18 years and has been CEO for 5 of them. He was an integral part of the restructuring of the company’ South African assets. AngloGold has begun the search for a new CEO, but the process of finding a suitable replacement will not be an easy task.
This resignation hasn’t come at a great time as AngloGold’s share price has been under considerable pressure for an extended period of time now.
