APPOINTMENT OF INTERIM COMPANY SECRETARY

In accordance with paragraph 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, the Board of Directors of Massmart
(the “Board”) wishes to advise shareholders of the appointment of Ms Nicole Morgan as Interim Company
Secretary of Massmart with effect from 1 January 2020, until a suitable candidate is found and appointed.

Ms Morgan replaces Mr. Joseph (Joe) Ralebepa who resigned as the Massmart Group Company Secretary with
effect from 31 December 2019, as communicated to shareholders in a SENS announcement dated
5 September 2019.

Ms. Nicole Morgan is an admitted attorney of the High Court with approximately 8 years of corporate law and
company secretarial experience, having served in various capacities in listed corporates including, as Group
Assistant Company Secretary at Massmart since May 2017. Ms. Morgan is a law graduate of the University of
Limpopo and holds an LLB Degree and a PGD in Pension Funds Law from the University of Witwatersrand.

The Board is satisfied that Ms Morgan has the requisite knowledge and experience to fulfil the role of Interim
Company Secretary and wishes her great success. Shareholders will be advised when a permanent Company
Secretary is appointed.
