SA’s First Commercial LNG and Liquid Helium Plant Ordered RENERGEN LIMITED Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa (Registration number: 2014/195093/06) JSE Share code: REN ISIN: ZAE000202610 Australian Business Number (ABN): 93 998 352 675 ASX Share code: RLT (“Renergen” or “the Company”) SA’S FIRST COMMERCIAL LNG AND LIQUID HELIUM PLANT ORDERED Emerging domestic natural gas and helium producer, Renergen is pleased to announce final milestone leading to commencement of construction of the Virginia Gas Project, namely the appointment of equipment supplier for the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and liquid helium plant. Western Shell Cryogenic Equipment Co. (“WSCE”) of China has been awarded the contract to supply the technology and equipment for the plant alongside EPCM Bonisana (Pty) Ltd (“EPCM”) who will install the pipeline and manage the interface between the two installations. WSCE has been manufacturing small scale LNG plants since 2004. In 2007, they commissioned the world’s smallest commercial LNG plant. In 2008 WSCE were awarded “The Most Promising Technology” at the World Cleantech Forum. Its founder and CEO, Dr Jia Lin Xiang, developed the helium cryogenic test laboratory for The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), following which he became Chief Cryogenic Engineer at the US Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York for over a decade. Notable projects include leading the construction of the liquid helium system for the world’s largest diameter superconducting solenoid magnets and the helium cryogenic system for Beijing Positron- Electron Collider in China. “Dr Jia’s technical expertise in the field of LNG and helium cryogenics is world class, which was evident from the technical proposal delivered in the tender process. WSCE has a wealth of experience in relation to the manufacturing of critical components for cryogenics, and we look forward to seeing Renergen and WSCE making liquid natural gas and liquid helium in South Africa a reality.” “We look forward to contributing to the success of building the world-class Mini-LNG/LHe production plant in South Africa," WSCE CEO Dr. Jia said. The plant is expected to be operational within the first half of 2021 and will see the plant produce up to 2,700 GJ of liquid natural gas and 350 kg of liquid helium per day. This will make the plant the first commercial LNG facility in the country. The plant will be modularised and constructed in sizes of standard shipping containers for ease of transport and installation on site. The design uses mixed refrigeration cycle for the liquefaction process of the natural gas, which means the energy consumption is very low as compared to other plants at this small scale.
