APPOINTMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, Trans Hex shareholders
are advised that Dr John William Bristow has been appointed as an independent non-executive director
of the Company and a member of the Human Resources and Social and Ethics committee of the
Company with immediate effect.

Dr Bristow has an in-depth knowledge, and actively participates, in the local and international natural
(and synthetic) diamond business, including exploration and mining, project identification, evaluation
and development, diamond marketing and sales, and product handling and security.

Dr Bristow recently contributed mineral policy research and advisory services as a member of a UKAid
sponsored Rwanda Minerals and Mining Policy Development and Implementation team, providing inter
alia contract services for the modernisation of Rwanda’s exploration and mining sector and structuring
and optimisation of the Rwanda Mining Board. He also currently provides advisory services to local,
African and international diamond and industrial mineral exploration and mining companies.

Dr Bristow’s past experience includes Consultant Geologist for Mustang Rubies and Diamonds
(Mozambique), Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and Chief Operating Officer of Incubex Minerals
Limited, President and CEO of Rockwell Diamonds Inc., CEO of Kalahari Diamond Resources Plc
(United Kingdom) and subsidiary Sekaka Diamonds Limited (Botswana), and spent 12 years with the
Anglo American and DeBeers Group of companies. Dr Bristow has a Master’s degree in Geology, a
PhD in Geochemistry, and undertook Post-Doctoral Studies at the University of New Mexico (USA).
