PUBLICATION OF A COMPETENT PERSON’S REPORT

Further to the SENS announcement released on 2 October 2018, Unicorn continues to focus on portfolio
optimisation and the consideration of various options with respect to Nkomati Anthracite Proprietary
Limited (“Nkomati”), including, but not limited to, a disposal of Unicorn’s shareholding in Nkomati.

In order to further the optimisation process and as indicated in the Company’s interim report released on
SENS on 28 March 2019 (“Interims”), shareholders are advised that an Independent Competent Person’s
Report (“CPR”) has been compiled in respect of Nkomati.

The Coal Resources and Coal Reserves described in the CPR are in line with the relevant information
disclosed in the Interims.

The CPR is fully compliant with Section 12.10 of the JSE Limited Listing Requirements (“JSE LR”), the
South African Code for the Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves
(The SAMREC Code, 2016 Edition) and the South African Code for the Reporting of Mineral Asset
Valuation (The SAMVAL Code, 2016 Edition) and additional requirements pursuant to the JSE LR.

In summary, the following key estimates/outcomes are reported in the CPR:-
Total MTIS Coal Resource estimate 29.5Mt (inclusive of Coal Reserves, 31 December 2018) comprising:-
    • Inferred Coal Resource 16.0Mt;
    • Indicated Coal Resource 1.7Mt; and
    • Measured Coal Resource 11.8Mt.
Total Coal Reserve estimate (31 December 2018) comprising:-
    • Total ROM Coal Reserve: 5.22Mt (As Received); and
    • Total Saleable Coal Reserve: 3.25Mt (Air Dried);
