Non-Executive Director


In terms of paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, shareholders
are advised of the following announcement regarding the appointment of a member of the
boards of directors of Sanlam and Sanlam Life Insurance Limited.

Ms Mathukana Mokoka has been appointed as an independent non-executive director to
the boards of directors of Sanlam and Sanlam Life Insurance Limited.

Ms Mokoka’s appointment is effective from 14 March 2018.

Mathukana is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) SA with over 15 years of post-
articles experience.
She has sound public and private sector experience on boards of directors, currently
serving as a member of the board of the Public Investment Corporation, Palabora Mining
(Pty) Ltd (where she is also the Audit & Risk Chair), as well as Rolfes Holdings (where she
is also the Audit & Risk Chair) amongst others.
Commenting on Ms Mokoka’s appointment, the Chair of the boards of directors of Sanlam
and Sanlam Life Insurance Limited, Dr Johan van Zyl said: “Mathukana comes with the
requisite experience and impeccable credentials that we believe will add value to Sanlam
and support the Group’s growth ambitions. We welcome her and look forward to her
