TELIMATRIX AWARDED R250 MILLION DEBIS CONTRACT
MiX Telematics, formerly trading as OmniBridge, a wholly owned subsidiary of the
JSE listed telematics group, TeliMatrix Limited (TeliMatrix), today announced
its 5 year contract with debis Fleet Management, a leading national supplier of
fleet vehicles and related services. Revenues expected to flow to the group as a
result of the contract are in excess of R250m.
debis, a Daimler Services company, manages approximately 13 500 vehicles for
different customers. MiX Telematics was awarded the vehicle management contract
for a period of 5 years
Stefan Joss, CEO of TeliMatrix said: "This contract reinforces TeliMatrix`s
position as a significant contender in the super fleet business. We aim to be
the preferred supplier to large fleets for fleet management products and
services. We anticipate huge growth both locally and internationally in the
fleet management arena and are perfectly poised to take advantage of these
opportunities."
This is not the first large tender won by a TeliMatrix company. Through various
partners, they also provide services to fleets of the City of Johannesburg,
Nelson Mandela Bay municipality, Ekhurhuleni and the Western Cape Government and
internationally to the likes of Schlumberger and Chevron.
For shareholders, this deal signifies a tangible benefit resulting from
TeliMatrix`s acquisition of Omnibridge last year. Joss continues "A key
contributing success factor in us being awarded this deal is our proven ability
to provide world-class, end-to-end services to our customers; from extensive
driver and vehicle performance monitoring to sophisticated vehicle security and
safety solutions."
MiX Telematics will equip the entire fleet of vehicles with FM Communicator
onboard computers to provide vehicle tracking and fleet management functionality
and information, including driver identification, vehicle performance, driver
performance, fuel consumption, location and utilisation. The solution will also
enable debis to track driver behaviour e.g. if the driver is speeding or driving
for long periods on end, thus promoting driver safety and enabling debis to
watch over operating costs. The equipment transmits all driver and vehicle data
to the Mix Telematics control room via GPRS, and information can be viewed
online using MiX Telematics` FM-Web internet based solution
"Escalating fuel and vehicle maintenance costs world-wide have thrown the spot
light on cost-cutting and efficiency. Fleet owners can not afford for their
drivers to take any unauthorised routes or keep the motor running unduly. Our
products arm our clients with tools to control cost variances and provide peace
of mind. debis and their client have recognised the need to use technology to
significantly improve productivity and customer satisfaction. The solution MiX
Telematics provides not only ensures that they maximise vehicle availability and
utilisation, but also improves driver productivity. Our products arm the
business with the ability to directly improve customer service whilst also
maximising control over their fleet and associated costs", said Joss
MiX Telematics provides a 24/7 response and service that offers debis and their
client vehicle recovery, CRM services, fleet consulting, maintenance and
installation management.
"We are delighted to be the partner of choice for debis and are confident in our
ability to provide a broad range of products and ultimately a superior fleet
management solution that both debis and their client can rely on", said Joss
MiX Telematics (previously trading as OMNiBRIDGE) was formed in 1997 and is a
global provider of tracking and fleet management products and services to
companies of all sizes in over 75 countries on six continents. The company`s
commercial product range - formerly marketed under the VDO brand and sold by
Siemens VDO for 10 years - helps fleet owners ensure driver and passenger
safety, reduce fleet running and fuel costs, comply with selected industry
regulations, and track and protect vehicles and drivers. Customers include
Parmalat, Schlumberger, Chevron, Greyhound, Spar, and Scania. MiX Telematics has
offices in South Africa, Germany and the United Kingdom and an extensive global
distribution network.
TeliMatrix acquired Omnibridge from Control Instruments in October 2007 as part
of its vision to become the leading provider of information and related services
for mobile assets.
