York shares commence trading ex-rights                                          
In response to inaccurate media reports, the board of directors of York would   
like to advise shareholders of the Company that the decrease in the traded share
price on  Monday 30 July 2007 was as a result of the fact that it was the first 
day that the York ordinary shares traded ex-rights with regards to the rights   
offer in terms of which 2.1134123 rights offer shares at a subscription price of
R15 per rights offer share were offered for each York ordinary share held at the
close of business on Friday, 27 July 2007, details of which are included in the 
circular issued to York shareholders on 15 June 2007, and not as a result of the
incorrectly reported severe fire damage experienced in the Mpumalanga region.   
Shareholders are also referred to the SENS announcement dated 30 July 2007 in   
which the limited impact of the fire damage on York was set out in detail.
