DIVIDEND ANNOUNCEMENT                                                           
Notice is hereby given that in the light of the group"s substantial cash        
holdings and continuing strong cash flow in operations, the board of directors  
of the company has declared an ordinary cash dividend of 25 cents per share     
("the ordinary dividend") (2004: nil) plus a special cash dividend of 125 cents 
per share (2004: nil) ("the special dividend"). The ordinary dividend and the   
special dividend in aggregate amount to 150 cents per share for the period ("the
total dividend"). The total dividend will be payable to shareholders recorded in
the books of the Company at the close of business on Friday, 27 May 2005.       
Shareholders are advised that the last day to trade cum the total dividend will 
be Friday, 20 May 2005. The shares will trade ex the total dividend as from     
Monday, 23 May 2005, and the record date will be Friday, 27 May 2005. The total 
dividend will be paid on Monday, 30 May 2005. Share certificates may not be     
dematerialised or rematerialised during the period Monday, 23 May 2005 to       
Friday, 27 May 2005, both days inclusive.                                       
BOARD APPOINTMENT                                                               
The board announced the appointment of Nthato Motlana as a non-executive        
director of the company with effect from 24 February 2005.  Mr Motlana is a past
national chairman of the South African Lumber Millers" Association and a current
Councillor of the Institute of Directors n Southern Africa.  He previously      
served on the board of Yorkcor and left to take up significant opportunities in 
the timber industry
