Australian shares to drop; NZ edges down

March 7 (Reuters) - Australian shares are set to fall on Friday tracking an overnight drop in U.S. equities, while mining stocks are expected to soften on weaker base metal prices. The local share price index futures fell 29 points to 6,241.0, a 22.9-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index close. The benchmark rose 0.3 percent on Thursday.
