In compliance with paragraph 3.4(b) of the Listings Requirements of the JSE Limited, a listed
company is required to publish a trading statement as soon as it is satisfied that a reasonable
degree of certainty exists that the financial results for the next period to be reported on will differ by
at least 20% from the previous corresponding period.

Shareholders are hereby advised that, for the twelve months ended 31 December 2017, when
compared to the twelve months ended 31 December 2016 (“FY2016”):

-     the loss per share of the Company is expected to be 14.68 US cents per share being a
      decrease of 14.81 US cents per share from the earnings per share of 0.13 US cents reported
      for FY2016; and
-     the headline loss per share is expected to be 14.22 US cents per share, being a decrease of
      14.33 US cents per share from the headline loss per share of 0.11 US cents reported for
      FY2016.

The estimated financial information contained in this announcement has not been audited, reviewed
or reported upon by the Company’s external auditors.

Brainworks’ results for the year ended 31 December 2017 are expected to be released on or about
29 March 2018.
