ALEXANDER FORBES ANNOUNCES BOARD APPOINTMENT: MR ROBERT MICHAEL HEAD

In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, shareholders are
advised that Mr Robert Michael Head has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive
Director of the Company, as well as a member of the Group Audit and Group Capital Oversight
Committees, with effect from 1 January 2018.

With a 30 year plus career across financial services, Mr Head has held senior leadership positions
in South Africa and Europe. Among his positions, Mr Head was Special Adviser to the
Commissioner of the South African Revenue Service (SARS); Chief Executive Officer, Old Mutual
Wealth Management; Finance Director, Nedbank; the joint founder of egg plc (the first UK internet
bank); the first Chief Executive of UK-based smile.co.uk (part of the Co-operative Bank plc); and
Chief Executive Officer of Skandia. In addition, he has also been a director of Nedbank and Mutual
& Federal.

Mr Head studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University, UK before qualifying as
a Chartered Accountant. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK and a
Fellow of the Institute of Bankers (UK).

His current board membership positions are Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit
Committees of UK-based Personal Group Holdings plc and FairFX Group plc (UK), and Non-
Executive Director of Hargreaves Holden Limited.

Interim Non-Executive Chairman Mr Mark D Collier, says the Group will benefit from Mr Head’s
extensive local and international experience in managing complex businesses and implementing
turnaround strategies. He says his contribution will be invaluable to Alexander Forbes as it delivers
on its strategy of being a globally distinctive Pan-African financial services company.
