In compliance with Section 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, shareholders of
diversified resources group Exxaro are advised that Catharina Helena (Carina) Wessels, Group
Company Secretary & Legal of Exxaro since 1 July 2011 has resigned in order to pursue other
opportunities.

In terms of her contract of employment with Exxaro Carina will stay on until latest 29 September
2017 to finalise a number of pending strategic matters in her portfolio. Recruitment for her
replacement will commence shortly and an announcement will be made once finalised.

The Board would like to thank Carina for her dedication and service over the past 6 years and
wish her well for the future.
