Passing of the Chairman of the Board Novus Holdings Limited (Incorporated in the Republic South Africa) JSE share code: NVS ISIN: ZAE000202149 Registration number: 2008/011165/06 (“Novus Holdings”, “the Company” or “the Group”) Passing of the Chairman of the Board It is with utmost sadness that the Board of Novus Holdings wishes to inform shareholders that Mr Lambert Retief, Chairman and non-executive director, passed away late on Wednesday evening, 25 January 2017. Mr Retief was appointed as Chairman in 2005 following his tenure as the first CEO of the Group, then known as the Paarl Media Group. He also continued as the Chairman of the Company post its listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 2015. Mr Retief was involved in the printing industry since 1978 with his late father being one of the founding directors of the printing operation. As a highly astute businessman, Mr Retief had a distinguished career, serving on the Boards of a number of entities namely Naspers, Media24, Quantum Food Holdings, Zeder Investments, Pioneer Food Group and Huguenot Investments, over the years. The Board and management of Novus Holdings wish to extend their heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr Retief and pay tribute to him for his inspirational leadership, integrity and his invaluable contribution to the company and society. He will be sadly missed by all. As lead independent non-executive director, Mr Fred Robertson assumed the role of interim Chairman following Mr Retief’s medical leave of absence since July 2016. Mr Robertson will continue to fulfil this role until such time as a permanent appointment has been made.
