WITHDRAWAL OF CAUTIONARY ANNOUNCEMENT

Shareholders are referred to the cautionary announcement released by Buildmax on SENS on
5 September 2016 in terms of which shareholders were advised that Buildmax had received a
conditional offer (“the Proposed Offer”) to acquire a controlling equity position in the Company
subject to certain pre-conditions.

Following discussions and consideration of the Proposed Offer, the Buildmax independent board
and full board of directors have determined that the terms and conditions of the Proposed Offer
are not in the best interests of the Company’s shareholders and other stakeholders.

Shareholders are hereby advised that discussions in respect of the Proposed Offer have been
terminated by Buildmax and accordingly shareholders are no longer required to exercise caution
when dealing in Buildmax securities.
