External audit fees paid in respect of the 2016 financial year

Shareholders are referred to the publication of the Group’s 2016 Annual Financial Statements. It has
been standard practice for the Group to disclose fees paid to the Group’s external auditors for audit
and non-audit services. During the process of reviewing and simplifying the disclosures in the 2016
Annual Financial Statements certain non-statutory disclosures were omitted. We have come to the
conclusion, following a stakeholder engagement, that whilst the disclosure of external audit fees are
no longer statutorily required, the Group’s shareholders will still benefit from the inclusion of this
disclosure.

Accordingly shareholders are advised that the audit fees paid to the Group’s external auditors, Ernst
& Young (“EY”) for the financial year ended June 2016, amounted to R27 million (2015: R24 million).

During the year under review, EY’s approved fees pertaining to other audit related and non-audit
services were approximately 14% (2015: 40%) of the prior year’s audit fee. Further information in
this regard is contained within the Report of the Audit Committee as set out in the 2016 audited
Annual Financial Statements.
