Moody’s downgrades Anglo American plc (‘AA plc’) ratings to
Baa3, places ratings under review for downgrade.


In accordance with paragraph 4.26 of the JSE Debt Listings
Requirements,   noteholders   are  advised   that   Moody’s  has
downgraded the senior unsecured ratings of AA plc and its
subsidiaries to Baa3 from Baa2 and its short term ratings to P-3
from P-2.     Concurrently, Moody’s downgraded the company’s
national scale rating (‘NSR’) to A3.za from A2.za and kept the
short term NSR unchanged at P-1.za. Moody’s has also placed all
ratings on review for downgrade. AA plc is the Guarantor under
Anglo American SA Finance Ltd’s R20bn DMTN Programme.
