DISCLOSURE OF SIGNIFICANT HOLDING OF WOOLWORTHS HOLDINGS ORDINARY
SHARES

In accordance with the provisions of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements and Section 122(1)
of the Companies Act 71 of 2008, as amended (“the Companies Act”) shareholders are advised
of the following:

In October 2014 Lazard Asset Management (“Lazard”) notified the company that accounts
under its management had increased its holding in the company to 5.2% of the total issued
shares, representing 5.2% of the voting rights in the company. During October 2015, Lazard
disposed of a portion of its holding, which was reduced then to 4.91%. As the disposal was less
than 1% of the total issued ordinary shares, the reduction in shareholding was not required to
be announced on the Stock Exchange News Service in accordance with the Companies Act.
The Takeover Regulation Panel was however, duly notified of the decrease in beneficial
shareholding.

Shareholders are now advised that Lazard has once again increased its holding in the
company, such that it now holds5.35% of the voting rights in the company.
