CHANGES TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

In terms of paragraph 3.59 (b) of the Listing Requirements of the JSE Limited, Sappi
shareholders are advised that Dr Danie Cronjé will retire as independent Chairman of the
Board of directors of Sappi (the "Board") at the end of February 2016, after the next Annual
General Meeting ("AGM") to be held on 10 February 2016. The 2016 Notice of the AGM,
together with the 2015 annual financial results, will be released by the company in December
2015.

Dr Cronjé was appointed to the Board in January 2008 and was appointed as Independent
Chairman on 3 March 2008.

The Board wishes to thank Dr Cronjé for his valuable contribution over the years. His wisdom
and counsel will be sorely missed as the company charts the next stage of its journey.

Further to this, the Board is pleased to announce that Sir Nigel Rudd, who joined the Board
in April 2006, will succeed Dr Cronjé as independent Chairman of the company with effect
from 1 March 2016. At present Sir Nigel is the lead independent director of the Board.

                                                                                ENDS
