Withdrawal of Sterkfontein Project Coal Reserve Estimate

Keaton Energy would like to inform shareholders of the following: Keaton Energy has withdrawn the
Sterkfontein Coal Reserve estimate for 2013 and 2014 as this estimate was originally based on the
results of an independent Concept Study conducted for the project. In accordance with the SAMREC
Code, an appropriate assessment to a minimum of a Pre-Feasibility Study for a project must have
been carried out. The Sterkfontein Coal Reserve estimate has therefore been withdrawn until such
time as the Concept Study is upgraded to a minimum of Pre-Feasibility study.

The Sterkfontein Coal Resource estimate remains unaffected as published in the Competent Person’s
Report (“CPR”) compiled for the two transactions announced on SENS on 17 July and 4 September
2015 and which has been approved by the JSE Reader’s Panel.

This CPR is available on the Company’s website http://www.keatonenergy.co.za/
