The appointment has been recommended by the DAWN Nominations Committee. Mr Mayet is a Chartered Accountant (SA) with over 30 years’ experience. After completing his articles of clerkship in 1982, he joined the finance division of Anglo American South Africa Limited (“AASA”) and over the next 14 years gained experience in all aspects of financial reporting with ultimate responsibility for the accounting, financial and taxation functions of a number of both listed and unlisted subsidiaries in the AASA Group. In 1993 he was moved to the International Planning Department as a senior manager where he was involved in AASA’s offshore structures, managing offshore planning, funding, captive insurance and exchange control. Following Anglo American PLC’s London listing in 1999, he fulfilled various roles within the finance division of AASA in Johannesburg and London and in January 2008 was promoted to his current position as Head of Finance – AASA. He has extensive experience on a wide range of corporate activities and currently serves on the boards of AASA and AASA’s strategic investment subsidiaries. He is also a trustee on all Anglo-related Funds and a member of various senior management committees tasked with strategy, driving value initiatives and engagement with key stakeholders.
