RESIGNATION OF A MEMBER OF AECI’S EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Schalk Venter, a member of the Company’s Executive Committee and Managing Director of AEL
Mining Services Limited (“AEL”) will be leaving the Group on 15 May 2015, after 24 years of service,
to pursue another opportunity in industry.

Schalk took up his current position in 2012 and has played a leading role in expanding AEL’s
international footprint and diversifying its customer base. AEL is AECI’s largest subsidiary and one
of the leader’s in the Group’s Mining Solutions strategic growth pillars.

He joined ChemSystems, now part of the Group’s specialty chemicals segment, in 1991 as a sales
representative and went on to serve as Managing Director of that company as well as of two others
in the then Chemical Services Limited (“Chemserve”). Schalk was appointed to the Chemserve
Executive Committee in 2005 and to its Board in 2007, serving also as Chairman of a number of
specialty chemicals subsidiaries. He joined AECI’s Executive Committee in 2010.

Schalk’s AECI Executive Committee colleagues, and the AECI Board, wish him every success in his
new venture and thank him for his valued contribution to the Group’s growth over many years.
