Hans, age 48 years, is a Dutch national and qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Young in the Netherlands in 1997. Hans has extensive experience in Africa where he has lived in three different countries and covered over 20 countries at various times over the last 18 years. In particular, he was with Diageo from 2000 to 2011 where he worked in various roles including Finance, Supply Chain and Planning, finishing as CFO of the Diageo subsidiary Guinness Nigeria in 2011. He joins Massmart from Bharti Airtel Africa in Kenya where he was CFO from 2011 to 2014. Hans will report to Massmart CEO, Guy Hayward.
