Change in Non-executive Directors

Coal of Africa (“CoAL” or the “Company”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Andrew Mifflin and
Mr. Thabo Mosololi as new directors to the CoAL Board effective 12 December 2014. In addition Mr David
Murray has resigned as a Director of the Company after serving as a member of the Board for four years.

Andrew David Mifflin (57) obtained his BSc. (Hons) Mining Engineering from Staffordshire University and
has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Andrew has over 30 years’ experience specifically in the
coal mining arena. His experience spans across various organisations such as British Coal Corporation,
Xstrata and more recently GVK resources. He has gained in depth knowledge in coal operation, both thermal
and hard coking coal as well as in project development.

Thabo Felix Mosololi (45) is a Chartered Accountant qualified in South Africa and brings considerable
expertise as a director of various companies as well as from his time as Finance Director and Operations
Director with Tsogo Sun. Thabo has 20 years of experience within the South African corporate environment
and holds 10,000 CoAL shares in his personal capacity, representing 0.00077 per cent of the issued share
capital of the Company.
Save as set out below there is no further information required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph (g) of
Schedule 2 of the AIM rules for Messers Mifflin and Mosololi.
